Chinese, Korean Reactions: Worlds 2023, T1 vs WBG

It’s been a while since the event, but here are just a couple of reactions!

Incredibly positive and happy, as expected.

Chinese Comments from Post-Game Thread

。skt目前可以说是独一档了 = It’s true that capability-wise, JDG can match a little bit. But the champion pool and tactics are out of the question. SKT can be said to be one of a kind at the moment.

Translation of this giant Faker praise: Faker is amazing in that he has never lost his loyalty to his team, he remains quietly humble, still strong and capable, works hard, is thrifty, and enjoys reading as a hobby. Ordinary people who win will start to decline, but he won three yet remains at the top, and makes it to the finals very often, it’s like a script. Although I don’t like Korea as a country, Faker, as a Korean, deserves respect. He gives the game so much to talk about. Disregarding his video game skills, his lifestyle is worth looking up to.

Not going to lie, these longer Chinese comments are pretty emotional and very respectful toward T1 and Faker. I’ll post two more.

All the Respect from Chinese Netizens

You once had the best teacher leading you, the best ADC helping you create results, the best support helping you in sticky situations, and the best jungler helping you create resources. Now you still want to move forward, so you started to lead and picked up the burden of moving the team forward.

You told the world that humans could fight time. I once was at the top of the mountain and was also at the bottom of the valleys. This is the best way to describe you.

Last year, you lost the championship. This year at summer split, you were 1/7. Now at this year’s Worlds, one against four, this T1 team deserves the World Cup. Congratulations, you all demonstrated that you are, unquestionably, the strongest five players.

Congratulations Faker for four championships, and congratulations to the other T1 members for their first.

Success is temporary in life, failure is the main theme. However, how you face failure is what sets people apart. Some people get crushed by failure, and others continuously get back up and keep on going. Real maturity isn’t chasing perfection, but facing your own shortcomings.

From S6 to S13, now standing on top of the world once more.

The first three championships were for me.

The fourth is for my teammates.

Absolute talent makes him the king of mechanics, but only unrelenting dedication and passion can make him the wall of the forbidden army. I am the Chosen One and the Only One.

Congratulations, Faker! Congratulations, T1!

Korean Posts From Later On

I really cried when I saw him [Faker] lift the trophy.

I’ve been rooting for Faker for a long time, but I’m really crying.

I feel like the players have already felt the victory while playing the game.

These above comments are from posts some time later, not in the moment.

Real-Time Comments from Korean Netizens

When I think about making it last year, I feel sad.

Translation of this comment: Zeus barely spoke or changed his facial expression throughout the match, but in the last minute of the third set, he pushed the nexus and his expression relaxed. Like he was really focused

It was so sad to cry last year, but you’re [Keria] finally laughing.

Looking at these faces, everyone seems to be renewing their contracts.
